2 GIRL ROASTER

Last Saturday, I had a chance to photograph the ladies behind 2 Girl Roaster and their beautiful bright red machine for Edible Marin & Wine Country.  Their brand is awesome, and features coffees, "named after girls we know and love".  The official launch of their roasting business will be on December 1st, so it was kind of fun to get a sneak peek ;)  Check out the article about them in the upcoming winter edition of Edible.  AND, if you are around the Sausalito area in December, head over to 1201 Bridgeway (in the gorgeous space attached to Cibo) for some great coffee.

Francesco Torre at Hartford Family Winery

This Labor Day Weekend, I had the pleasure of photographing an amazing dinner event which was a part of the 2012 Sonoma Wine Country Weekend.  Chef Francesco Torre, who will soon be opening his own restaurant in Forestville, created the fantastic five course line-up.  Each course was paired with wine from the Hartford Family Winery.

It was a gorgeous evening in Sonoma.

Francesco preparing a tray of appetizers: cigar smoked wild king salmon, albacore, and monkey face eel.

Sous chef Dave and cigar smoked monkey face eel appetizer with amaranth.

Liver bruschetta with butter & housemade orange marmalade.

Lamb tongue with salsa verde and amaranth.

Chilled cantaloupe soup with Tsar Nicoulai caviar.  Amazing.

Sous chefs Casey & Dave.

Rabbit waiting to be plated & various herbs.

Francesco Torre and Don Hartford.

First course: Borage soup with crispy pork jowl, salmon roe, amaranth & borage flower.

Second course: Squab, cippolini onions, cacao nibs, orange, orange reduction & hand woven puff pastry with black sesame.

Third course: Marjoram ravioli with quail egg, bohemian creamery cheese, & pancetta.

Fourth course: Tarragon stuffed rabbit with caul fat, baby green beans, potatoes, braised fennel, kalamata olives, & apricot bread.

And finally, dessert: Meringue cookies with whipped cream, bohemian creamery goat cheese mousse, chocolate, saffron and chilled peach mint soup.

Winemaker, Jeff Stewart.

I think it is safe to say everyone enjoyed themselves.  Incredible food and wine, beautifully plated in a beautiful setting.  So happy I had this opportunity & there may just be more work like this as Francesco's Italian roadhouse opens in the coming month or two.

Chicken waffles: Fremont Diner

A while back my boyfriend Mike and I headed up to Sonoma to check out the Fremont Diner.  It was an awesome sunny day, a beautiful drive, and a great food experience.  The diner supports local farmers and also uses plenty of ingredients from the farm at the back of the restaurant.  We will definitely be back.

EDIBLE MAGAZINE: VALLEY FORD COWS

I recently had the amazing opportunity to photograph the cows at Valley Ford Cheese Co.  Including a 2 DAY OLD calf!  This ranch, Mountain View Jerseys, has been in production for over one hundred years.  5 generations of the Bianchi family have now worked on this land in Valley Ford, CA.  Karen Bianchi-Moreda and her family have such amazing dedication to their cows, their land, and their heritage.  Karen gave me a truly heartfelt tour around the farm and sent me away with some of their amazing cheese.  It has been a privilege!  Look for their cheese at these farmer's markets, and look for these images in an upcoming Edible Marin & Wine Country issue :)
